Get Fit for
Golf
SP-01 Class held: Apr 26 2.5 Hours (1 Session) Mon:
6:30-9:00
Lower your golf score and increase your enjoyment of the game by learning
what physical imbalances are throwing off your golf swing and how to fix them.
This workshop will introduce you to the basics of golf conditioning. Learn how
to improve your flexibility, core strength, and posture to decrease chances of
injury and greatly improve your swing. A simple golf-fitness routine will be
taught, and youll also learn the importance of a pre-game routine. Wear
comfortable clothes and bring a golf club and towel or mat. Come ready for fun
and learn how to take your golf game to new levels.

Jessica Pelon is certified as both a personal trainer and golf conditioning
specialist. She has specialized training in postural analysis.
Introduction TO GOLF
SP-02 Classes begin: Mar 4 (End date: Mar 25) 10 Hours (4 Sessions) Thu:
6:30-9:00
We will start with golf rules and golf etiquette and move onto the different
types of clubs and when to use each one. We will develop a comfortable golf
grip, and practice our stance, swing, and ball alignment. We will use the
gymnasium for several nights, swinging the club and hitting balls. Our final
night will consist of practice at a driving range, where we will hit balls for
our long game and short game distances. Limited Enrollment (Bring golf clubs of
you have them - if not, right handed clubs will be provided for your use).
Tuition includes driving range admission fee.

Cheryl Kosegarten is a member of the United States Golf Association. She has
been a golf enthusiast for years and has played on many courses throughout
United States, Central America and the Caribbean. She is a current member of
Stone and Webster Engineering's golf league, and has privately taught many golf
beginners the fundamentals of the game.
Introduction to
the Sport of Fly-Fishing -
CLASS IS SOLD OUT!
SP-03 Class held: Mar 23 2 Hours (1 Session) Tue: 6:30-8:30
This indoor class will cover the basics of how to get started in
fly-fishing. You will learn about the equipment, including rods, reels, lines,
waders and other gear; learn the differences between fresh and saltwater
fly-fishing; basic knot tying; fly selection; fishing conservation; as well as
beginning fly-casting with an indoor practice rod. This is a fast paced class
designed to get you ready for the spring fishing season. Instructor will provide
all materials and handouts. Class is limited to 8 students.

Sheila and Bill Hassan are Federation of Fly Fishers Master certified
casting instructors. They are among a handful of couples who both hold this
rating. They have traveled extensively for fishing, both freshwater and
saltwater. They serve on the R.L. Winston Rod Company and Ross Reels Pro Staff.
They teach casting seminars and private lessons throughout New England. Sheila
is the chief instructor at the Wulff School of Fly Fishing and is an IGFA world
record holder for bonefish and bluefish. Sheila has recently published her first
book, Fly Casting: A Systematic Approach.

Its all about Boating Navigation. Learn to Navigate safely on the open
water. This is a fast moving introductory course as well as a refresher for
those of you with some navigating skills. A hands-on Mini-Workshop series where
you will learn:

How to use the Mariners Compass
TVMDC, Convert True Bearings to Compass Bearings

Room: 223 Instructor: Bill Smith Tuition: $69
Bill Smith served 4 years in the U.S. Coast Guard and 2 years sailing with
the Military Sealift Command. He was issued a USCG Captains Certificate in 1987
and ran a successful charter boat business for several years out of Boston
harbor where he lived with his wife and cat aboard their 44 cutter the
Patriot.
RECREATIONAL VOLLEYBALL-

SP-05 Classes begin: Mar 25 (End date: May 27) 16 Hours (8 Sessions) Thu:
6:30-8:30
This class is for the student who wants to step right in and play
volleyball. Games will be played from the start to finish. Games will be
officiated and scored. This class is designed for the student with prior
volleyball game experience.
Room: Gymnasium Instructor: Jeff Griffin & Kevin Kramer Tuition: $59
Kevin Kramer has been a coach and participant in a variety of the athletics
at all levels. Kevin is currently a teacher at Keefe Tech and the soccer coach.
His experience and knowledge of volleyball will make for an enjoyable class.
Jeff Griffin has coached several sports at all levels. He will assist the novice
to learn the game.
Spring Bicycle
Maintenance
SP-06 Class held: Apr 6 3 Hours (1 Session) Tue: 6:30-9:30
It's time to clean up that bike and get it tuned up for the coming season.
This class is for all bike owners - even those who say, "I don't even know if
the thing still works." Designed to take the intimidation out of bike
maintenance, you will learn the basics of bike fitting, operational adjustments,
common repairs, regular maintenance and safety checks. You will get answers to
all your questions, from "Why all the gears?" to "Where can I get the best tires
for me?" The more you know about how your bike works, the more confidence you
will have in riding it.
Room: 306 Instructor: Ed Kross Tuition: $34
For thirty years Ed has been touring and racing locally. His career
highlights have been competing in the Race Across America five times. Throughout
his career, Ed has not only taken pride in maintaining his own bicycles, but
finds it necessary and more convenient. Avoiding mechanical problems and dealing
with the inevitable ones on the road gives him the confidence to ride far away
from home all day without worrying what to do when something goes wrong.
