Are you frustrated in trying to use your digital camera, and the manual
isn’t really helpful? Learn how to take photographs easily during this hands-on
workshop. Topics include camera use and settings, minimizing shutter lag,
optimizing image quality, zoom, flash & exposure compensation and white balance.
Please read your camera manual beforehand and bring it with you along with your
camera and fresh batteries. This workshop is suitable for point-and-shoot or
beginning SLR camera users. A handout will be provided.

Join us and learn how to use and take advantage of your DSLR (digital
single-lens reflex) camera! Do you ever find yourself disappointed by the final
outcome of your digital photos? Wondering why people look grey, out of focus,
etc? This course is the place to develop your abilities and learn camera
manipulation, composition, and lighting. Topics included are pre-visualization,
exposure, asymmetrical balance, depth of field, exposure compensation for
automatic modes, portraiture, available light and much more. Learn general
techniques helpful in taking digital pictures and processing your photos for
displaying, printing, sharing and storage. This course will be a combination of
lecture, demonstration and practice. Please bring your digital camera and manual
to each class.

Digital
Photography - An Introduction
PH-03 • Classes begin: Mar 4 (End date: Mar 25) • 10 Hours (4
Sessions) • Thu: 6:30-9:00
This four-session course is an introduction to photography for those who
want to improve their digital pictures, whether point-and-shoot or SLR camera
users. Lecture portions will demonstrate, by example, the components of a good
photograph. Topics to be covered include angle of view, composition,
perspective/zoom, quality of light, flash & exposure compensation, white
balance, file type and appropriate file sizes for specific uses. Read your
camera manual thoroughly before the first class. Bring your camera and manual to
each class. There will be a photography assignment each week to do on your own
that will be used as a learning tool in the following class. Please email two of
your photos (good or with issues) in JPEG format to classes@DamianosPhotography.com
by Tuesday, March 2 with the subject line “KeefeDig_HW1_YourLastName” (or bring
them in to class in a separate folder on a CD, thumb drive or your camera’s
flash card).

FRAMING/MATTING CLASS

Tired of the high cost of having pictures matted and framed? Ever wonder how
hard it would be to do it yourself? This course will show you how. The teacher
will bring equipment available at craft stores which allows you to mat and frame
a picture for a fraction of the price of professionals. There will be a
discussion of equipment, supplies, techniques, and the chance for everyone to
try matting and framing at least one piece of artwork. Please note that we do
not cut frames in this class.

Jim Quinn is a member of the Assabet Valley Camera Club and the winner of
several local photography contests. His photography interests include sports,
people, sunsets and nature.
Photoshop FOR
PHOTOGRAPHERS
PH-05 • Classes begin: Apr 29 (End date: May 20) • 10 Hours (4
Sessions) • Thu: 6:30-9:00
This four-session course is intended for those who are already familiar with
their digital camera and basic image manipulation software and would like to
take their photographs to the next level by enhancing images on the computer.
Topics to be covered include workflow, file information (metadata), adjustment
layers, masks, transforming, type, converting to B/W, retouching techniques
using Photoshop and preparation for printing. There will be computer assignment
each week to do on your own that will be used as a learning tool in the
following class. Please email two of your photos (good or with issues) in JPEG

Lynne Damianos is the principal of Damianos Photography in Framingham. She
specializes in photography of architecture, products and people for business,
with over 30 years experience in the field. Lynne received her BS in Photography
from RIT, and has received image awards from Kodak, Fujifilm, CIPNE, ASMP and
PPA. She teaches at the Center for Digital Imaging Arts at BU, Danforth Museum
and Boston Architectural College, and gives professional seminars throughout New
England.
