CONTAINER GARDENING
FG-01 • Class held: May 14 • 3 Hours (1 Session) • Wed: 6:30-9:30
Containers enable anyone to garden, whether they have soil or not. Pots,
tubs, and troughs are the perfect way to transform paths and paving into an
oasis of flowers, foliage, and enable balconies to bloom. Spectacular pots
create focal points around the garden, highlight hot-spots and add drama to
entrances. Window boxes underline windows in an old cottage and giant jars add
architectural accents to a carpet of color.

Henry Schmidt joined the staff of Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge as a
horticultural consultant. Following a tour of duty with the Army, he joined the
staff at Weston Nurseries in Hopkinton where he has been employed for 35 years.
Henry has operated a successful landscape business with his partner for 12 years
and also has been a judge at the New England Flower Show.
HOW TO DESIGN A FLOWER GARDEN

In just one fun, informative evening you will learn everything you need to
know to get ready for a great flower garden this summer. Henry will walk you
through the entire planning stages so you will leave class ready to go! Flower
height, color, blooming seasons, light, soil, fertilizer, water, when to plant
and much more will be covered. Many hand-outs included.

THE PERFECT LAWN
FG-03 • Class held: Mar 13 • 3 Hours (1 Session) • Thu: 6:30-9:30
Before you throw hundreds of dollars at your lawn on fertilizers,
pesticides, fungicides, mulchers, weed whackers and inground sprinklers, you
should take this course. You'll learn valuable tips for a beautiful lawn that
can save you hours of time and frustration.

SPRING LANDSCAPING
FG-04 • Classes begin: Mar 5 (End date: Apr 16) • 21 Hours (7 Sessions) • Wed:
6:30-9:30
Henry Schmidt of Weston Nurseries will offer this course for everyone
interested in landscaping. He will discuss design and planning of gardens, a
monthly maintenance calendar, the proper plant for various situations, lawn
care, and patio and walkway design and construction. In addition, Henry has
agreed to spend some time on individual interests. The class will also
incorporate a behind the scenes trip to Weston Nurseries on a Sunday. Get ready
for the spring planting season!
