QuickBooks is a comprehensive tool to help you manage your small business finances more effectively. This course will take the student with no prior knowledge of computerized accounting to a stage where they can confidently perform elementary day-to-day operations with QuickBooks accounting software. Topics covered will include setting up a QuickBooks company, working with company lists, setting up and working with inventory, creating customer invoices and billing statements, receiving payments from customers, performing bank transactions, entering and paying bills, managing payroll, and conducting online banking services. We will show you how to complete job estimates, time tracking and costing, create customized letters and forms, reports and graphs. Tuition includes a textbook. Prerequisite: Introduction to Windows or equivalent knowledge.

Are you new to computers or would like a better working knowledge? Would you like to be able to email friends and relatives? Look up information? Buy items from a web site? We have structured this class for you. We will move at a leisurely pace - but covering all the basic information. The method is "hands-on" with every student having the use of a personal computer (pc) as well as a printer. This is the class for you!

He has experience programming in several computer languages including: Basic, C++, and Pascal, and he has a passion for technology that he uses on a daily basis within the classroom. KEYBOARD SKILLS

How are your typing skills? It is time to stop inventing your own "hunt 'n peck" method and put all your fingers to work for you! This class is for any one who wants to learn the proper typing techniques. You will learn the keyboard layout, drill of each character, timed writings, correct desktop set up, and typing posture. The last class will be an introduction to Microsoft Word in which you will learn to create documents, envelopes, bullet, numbering list, and more. Individual attention is provided. There will be no class on April 19th.

If your pc has become slower than usual or you are getting "popups", then you probably have spam/spyware problems on your PC. This class shows you how to clean your pc and help prevent problems in the future using downloadable free software. We will also cover installing free firewall software to help protect your PC. Please note that the class is one week later than it was listed as in the spring catalog.

Can't decide if you need a new computer? Wish you knew how to add new parts to your computer? Need more memory? Need a bigger hard drive? Want the latest video card? Don't want to pay a lot of money for someone else to upgrade your computer? This class will teach you everything you need to know to upgrade your PC. Is it better to buy a new part or just buy a new computer? This class will help you decide. This class will teach you how to know what to look for when you shop online or in the store for parts. This class will be hands on. You will get to see and handle different parts of the computer. Even if you do decide to have someone else upgrade your computer, you will be able to understand what is being done to your PC. Tuition includes tool kit and anti-static strap. Prerequisites: Must have a basic understanding of computers. Class size is limited to 8 students.

A+ certifies the abilities of PC Service Specialists and will help you achieve the earnings you are worth. This 14 session instructor led class combines hands-on activities and self-paced online Internet based training. It will prepare you to master the knowledge and skills you will need to recognize every major PC component, understand what it does and how the components work together. This class will prepare you for the A+ certification exams. At each session the instructor will give students homework on specific topics to be covered on their own using the Internet based self-paced tutorial. To gain your A+ Certification you must pass two exams: the Core Hardware exam and The Operating Systems exam. Prerequisites: Introduction to Personal Computers Using Windows 98 or equivalent knowledge. The student will need Internet access for the online self-paced homework assignments. This 20 session instructor led class combines e-learning reading and labs, hands-on labs with current equipment and you can do your reading and on-line labs and activities from home as well as the class. This course utilizes our "Authorized Cisco Networking Academy" which has been providing curriculum and learning for students since 2001. It will be the first step to prepare you for the entry level certificate at the ICND1 level. At the completion of this first step you will receive a Cisco Academy certificate.
The next course you will want to take will be "Working at a Small-to-Medium Business or ISP. At the completion of this course you will also receive a Cisco Academy certificate. You will have prepared for the Industry recognized Cisco 640-822 exam.
The 640-822 Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 (ICND1) is the exam associated with the Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician certification and a tangible first step in achieving the Cisco Certified Network Associate certification. Candidates can prepare for this exam by taking the Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 (ICND1) v1.0 course. This exam tests a candidate's knowledge and skills required to successfully install, operate, and troubleshoot a small branch office network. The exam includes topics on networking fundamentals; connecting to a WAN; basic security and wireless concepts; routing and switching fundamentals; the TCP/IP and OSI models; IP addressing; WAN technologies; operating and configuring IOS devices; configuring RIPv2, static and default routing; implementing NAT and DHCP; and configuring simple networks. The student will need internet access for the on-line self-paced homework assignments. Tuition of $499.00 includes all printed materials and enrollment in the Cisco on-line Academy. In 2001 Don became an authorized Cisco Academy instructor and received his CCNA certification in 2003. Students will learn fundamentals and many time saving features in this popular and powerful database program. This class will cover database concepts and terminology in Access. Hands-on exercises will introduce students to basic database planning, creation of tables, forms, queries, and reports. We will be covering table relationships, advanced queries and forms, expressions and functions, macros, and form design. We will show you how to customize form designs by creating calculated fields, combo boxes, and unbound controls. Microsoft Excel 2007: Visual Basic For Applications

Photoshop is the industry standard for enhancing and manipulating digital images. Professionals and hobbyists alike use this incredibly powerful tool for everything from simple photo retouching to producing complex composite images. This course introduces students to the fundamental features of Photoshop. Students will learn the basics of selecting and modifying images, and creating and manipulating layers and other effects. Rob McKeown is a co-founder of mcgraphix, a web and print design firm specializing in design and branding, website design, web-based applications and animation. Rob has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art/Graphic Design. In his career he has worked as a graphic designer and art director for a marketing and advertising agency, a senior web designer for a web-based software company and a web developer/engineer. Rob has also taught numerous classes in the visual arts including drawing and painting.
