It’s all about Boating Navigation. Learn to Navigate safely on the open
water. This is a fast moving introductory course as well as a refresher for
those of you with some navigating skills. A hands-on Mini-Workshop series where
you will learn:
• Nautical Terms, Charts and Publications
• How to use the Mariner’s Compass
• TVMDC, Convert True Bearings to Compass Bearings
• Learn to use Navigating Tools
• Aids to Navigation, What do they mean?
• Rules of the Road, Lights and Day Shapes
• Right of Way and Sound Signals
• Tides and Currents, Set and Drift
• Dead Reckoning on a Clear Day, 60 D/ST

Bill Smith served 4 years in the U.S. Coast Guard and 2 years sailing with
the Military Sealift Command. He was issued a USCG Captain’s Certificate in 1987
and ran a successful charter boat business for several years out of Boston
harbor where he lived with his wife and cat aboard their 44’ cutter the
“Patriot”. |
