CALLIGRAPHY
AR-01 Classes begin: Mar 12 (End date: Apr 16) 12 Hours (6 Sessions) Wed:
6:30-8:30
This class is for the more advanced artist who has a focus medium. Each
class will have 2-3 still-life set-ups for artists to choose from. All mediums
are welcome: watercolor, acrylic, oil, pencil and charcoal. Artists will have
the opportunity to fine-tune their individual style while learning new
techniques from both teacher and students. Each class will have time for an
"artist critique" that will help build confidence and define each students
individual strengths. Students are encouraged to bring their artwork to the
first class for an artist introduction.

Cartooning Workshop
AR-02 Classes begin: Mar 17 (End date: Apr 7) 8 Hours (4
Sessions) Mon: 6:30-8:30
This workshop uncovers all the secrets of the whimsical art of cartooning.
Students will learn how to construct cartoon characters from head to toe. Then
they'll learn facial expressions and action poses, which will make their
characters come to life! Also, students will learn how to draw props and
background objects in a cartoon style, and how to apply their cartooning skills
to various cartooning genres such as political cartoons, caricatures, comic
strips, and animation.

Introduction to
Pastel Drawing
AR-03 Classes begin: Mar 18 (End date: May 13) 24 Hours
(8 Sessions) Tue: 6:30-9:30
The exploration of techniques will be a large part of this introductory
class. Sometimes thought of as being soft and fuzzy, pastels may also be bold,
dynamic and passionate. Please join us to explore this simple yet sophisticated
medium. A supply list will be distributed and discussed on the first class
night. You will learn in a relaxed, comforting environment.

Mrs. Ciocca has taught for more than twenty years at Keefe Tech, Newbury
College, and Marian High School. She holds a B.A. in Printmaking from the
University of the Arts in Philadelphia and an MFA from Vermont College at
Norwich University. She has completed advanced studies at Tufts University and
the DeCordoba Museum.
Oil Painting for
beginners and intermediate students

AR-04 Classes begin: Mar 5 (End date: Apr 30) 24 Hours
(8 Sessions) Wed: 6:30-9:30
This class is for anyone who has ever wanted to try oil painting or has done
some and would like to do more. Instruction will be done from still life setups
although photographs may be used for some personal projects. This course will
cover drawing, composition and mixing colors. Emphasis will be on fun and
escaping to the wonderful world of art. For the first night bring any drawing or
painting materials you may have on hand. At this time we will go over the
materials for the rest of the course. The list will be chosen in such a way as
to keep the cost to a minimum while still working with quality materials.
Room: Commercial Art Instructor: Nina Jordan Tuition: $99
Nina is an experienced Painter: She paints portraits, Still lifes and
Landscapes in oil, pastel and charcoal. Nina has studied Art in Switzerland, and
here at the Ingbretson Studio of Realist Painting and the Boston Museum School
of Fine Art and a few famous painters. Her paintings are in several collections
and she has won numerous awards, that she has entered.
Pencil Sketching

AR-05 Classes begin: Mar 3 (End date: Apr 28) 16 Hours
(8 Sessions) Mon: 6:30-8:30
This is for the beginner who really wants to have fun with the basics of
drawing. Pencil will be the medium suggested to use with different still life
each class. We will work with shading, line techniques and basic perspective.
Each class will encourage each artist to focus on their own undiscovered unique
drawing talents. Come prepared to work individually while learning from each
others drawing style.

Artist Shawn Maria Bromley has been teaching drawing, painting and clay
for the last 18 years locally to adults and children. She has a Bachelor of Fine
Arts from Boston University and continues to work independently as a
calligrapher and designer.
Spring Film
Series: THE Films of Spencer Tracy AND Katharine Hepburn
AR-06 Classes begin: Mar 3 (End date: Apr 28) 21 Hours
(7 Sessions) Mon: 6:30-9:30
In this film series, we will explore the 26-year span of films that starred
Spencer Tracy & Katharine Hepburn. From their first film together, Woman of the
Year, made in 1942, it was apparent to many that there was something special
going on between these two stars. Tracy had already won his 2 Oscars, Ms Hepburn
had already done Philadelphia Story. Yet, the films that these stars made
together carve out a unique place in film history separate from their individual
careers. In this class, we will watch seven of their nine films, ending with
Spencer's last film Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. Join us as we discuss how they
and their various directors developed and strengthened their fabulous film
chemistry.

Doug Sanders has had a life-long love-relationship with film, and has
been a self-taught student of it for many years. He is also heavily involved
with the local theater community as a director, actor and writer. He loves
modern, foreign and art films, but also has a soft spot for the Hollywood films
of the 30's, 40's and 50's. In-between films, he spends his time as an
electrical engineer.
WATERCOLOR PAINTING WORKSHOP

AR-07 Classes begin: Mar 13 (End date: May 22) 30 Hours (10 Sessions) Thu:
6:30-9:30
You will begin with an introduction to the basic elements of watercolor and
will continue with a series of personal projects. This is always a most
enjoyable class. The emphasis is on a personal approach and developing your
individual style. A supply list will be distributed at the first class. Class
size is limited to 20. Register early.
Room: Commercial Art Instructor: Joan Rubin Tuition: $139
Joan Rubin co-founded the Sudbury Valley School in Framingham in 1968
where she has been teaching painting and drawing. Her paintings are in private
collections throughout the U.S. She studied painting with David Broudo and
George Dergalis and has been teaching watercolor painting at Keefe Tech since
1980.
